Two seriously injured in crash near Long Island Mall

Two people have been hospitalized with serious injuries after they were involved in a crash outside a Long Island mall, police said.

In Nassau County, Homicide Squad detectives were dispatched to New Hyde Park on Tuesday, March 29, where a crash involving a Range Rover and a Subaru was reported.

The accident happened shortly after 7 p.m. on March 29 outside 2317 New Hyde Park Road.

Police say a 25-year-old man was driving a 2018 Range Rover when he collided with a 32-year-old driver in a 2015 Subaru outside Party City in New Hyde Park.

Police said the crash left the Subaru driver and his 32-year-old female passenger seriously injured.

Both were transported to an area hospital, where they were listed in critical condition on Wednesday March 30, according to investigators. The Range Rover driver was treated for minor injuries and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the accident is not known. No identification has been released for the drivers or the passenger.

The accident investigation is ongoing.
