Tusky Valley takes volleyball victory over Conotton Valley

Host Tusky Valley improved to 2-0 after a 25-11, 25-10, 25-10 victory in Inter-Valley Conference volleyball over Conotton Valley in Zoarville on Thursday night.

Taylor West and Ashley Merrick each had 11 kills, while Julia Felgenhauer recorded 24 digs. Locie Levengood recorded 11 assists and 18 serves points and West made three blocks.

The Tusky Valley JV team won in straight sets.

Catholic Center 25-25-25, Sandy Valley 17-23-20

Tuscarawas Central Catholic claimed an IVC road victory in Sandy Valley.

Reese Triplett (13 kills, 13 points, 3 digs), Maddie Ferrell (9 assists, 7 assists), Gina Sciarretti (5 kills), Rylee Dillon (13 digs) and Jordyn Caldwell (9 assists, 3 kills) 1-1).

Lexi Tucci (2 aces, 6 kills, 9 recoveries), Zoe Ward (20 assists) and Miah Delany (3 blocks) led the Cardinals (2-2).

Indian Valley 25-25-25, Malvern 16-14-16

Host Indian Valley beat Malvern in the IVC game to improve to 2-1.

Tori Stocker had 9 kills, 8 points with 1 ace, 2 assists and 4 digs. Cari Anderson recorded 15 assists, 5 digs, 16 points and 4 kills, while Abby Morrison recorded 7 kills, 7 digs, 2 assists and 10 points with 2 aces for the winners.

Adrianna Paulette and Audrey Sikorsky (6 points each), Kenna Ball and Audrey Sikorsky (4 assists each), Olivia Brothers (8 assists) and Maddie Powers (9 recoveries) set the pace for the Hornets (0-4).

The Indian Valley JV team beat Malvern 25-20 and 25-19 to go 2-1 and the freshmen beat Cambridge 25-6 and 25-1 for a score of 3-1.

Hiland 25-31-25, Waynedale 15-29-14

Hiland raised his record to 3-0 after an out-of-conference victory over Waynedale.

Leading the Hawks were Gracie Keim (38 assists), Ava Troyer (18 assists, 2 blocks), Annika Schneider (10 assists), Hannah Shrock (8 assists), Belicia Yoder (14 assists), Haley Yoder (11 assists) and Maddy Miller (3 aces, 10 digs).

The Hiland JV team won in straight sets.

Garaway 16-25-25-25, Strasbourg 25-22-17-22

Host Garaway rallied behind an IVC victory over Strasbourg.

Shelby Gerber (36 assists), Morgan Schlabach (7 aces, 15 assists, 11 digs), McKenzie Miller (6 blocks, 11 assists, 16 digs), Meghan Petitte (10 assists), Jordyn Fearon (10 digs) and Laiken Wallick (10 digs) led Garaway.

The Strasburg JV team won in straight sets.

Claymont 25-25-25, Township East 7-9-4

Claymont’s visit resulted in a victory for the IVC in East Canton.

Hannah Wallace (20 points, 9 aces), Kailey Watkins (12 points, 4 aces) and Averi Wallace (10 points, 5 aces) led the Mustangs’ attack.

Ridgewood 25-25-25, Newcomerstown 7-9-12

Host Ridgewood tied his record at 2-2 after an IVC victory over Newcomerstown.

Karissa Gress (7 assists, 6 digs, 12 points & 11 aces), Hannah Maust (11 assists, 6 digs, 5 points), Ella Matusik (28 assists, 6 assists), Kaelynn Robinson (9 digs, 6 assists, 4 points), Brynn Waters (9 points & 5 aces), Kya Masloski (4 kills, 2 points, 1 ace) and Kelley Masloski (5 assists) were the Generals’ top performers.

Indian Creek 25-25-25, Harrison Central 14-15-16

Indian Creek claimed a straight set victory over Harrison Central.

McKayla Dunkle (10 kills, 4 points, 5 blocks), Logan Johnson (11 assists) and Maddy Butler (8 digs, 4 points) led Harrison Central.

River view 25-22-25-27, Morgan 10-25-21-25

Raelee McPeak had 13 kills and Alivia Spaulding added 10, as River View outscored host Morgan 25-10, 22-25, 25-21, 27-25 in a Muskingum Valley League crossover match.

Kayla Dulgar provided 36 assists with 15 digs, eight assists and a 100 percent helping; Cayla Shrimplin led the defense with 21 digs and served five aces, Addison Smith had 14 digs with 100 percent serves, Ashlyn Bible was a 100 percent server and Bailey Laudick contributed 15 digs for River View (2- 0).

Coshocton 25-25-25, Maysville 9-18-22

Lindsay Bryant racked up seven aces with six kills and nine digs to lead the visiting Redskins to a Muskingum Valley League crossover victory.

Hailey Helter added eight assists and Jalynn West six assists with 22 assists for Coshocton, who tied his MVL record at 1-1.

Golf for boys

Carrollton 158, West Branch 160

Carrollton improved to 6-0 in the Eastern Buckeye Conference after beating West Branch at the Flying Bee Golf Couse.

Jaxon Rinkes led the winners with a 38 and Colton Moore added a 39, while Cayden Rininger posted a 40 and Isaac Warner had a 41.

Reed Williams led Carrollton with a 39 and Landen Wilson with a 41.

Hiland 148, Malvern 185

Garret Shoup shot a 34 as the four Hiland golfers shot 40 or less in an IVC victory over Malvern at Fire Ridge.

Carter Mishler added 37 and Brookston Hummel got a 38, while Nathan Kline got a 39.

Connor Lefevre led Malvern with a 41 followed by Ethan Bush with a 46, Will Yellick with a 47 and Tucker Andrews with a 51.

Strasbourg 191, Central Catholic 198

Trenton Bitikofer shot a 43 to lead Strasbourg to an IVC victory over Tuscarawas Central Catholic at Oak Shadows.

Jason Grywalski and Nick Martin each added a 49, and Parker Edwards scored a 50 for the Tigers (1-1).

Zane Douglass led Central (2-2) with a 47 and Piper Olson added a 48, while Anthony Pangrazio posted a 50 and Riley Fotheringham followed with a 53.

Valley of the Indians 164, Valley of Conotton 191

Austen Gunn shot a 38 and Aden Trushell had a 39 to lead Indian Valley to an IVC victory over Conotton Valley at River Greens.

Daniel Grewell and Ches Salina each added 47 for the winners.

Justin Lambert led Conotton Valley with a 40. Gaige Galigher added a 45 and Sean O’Connor a 49, while Cole Edie posted a 57.

Ashland 159, West Holmes 172

Hunter Ellis finished with a 41 to lead the Knights against the Ohio Cardinals Conference favorite Ashland.

Grady Toye had a solid 42 and was followed by Trey Baker’s 44 and Brice Hunter’s 45.

The Knights are 3-2 in doubles and 0-1 in the OCC.

Girls Golf

Fairless 225, Northwest 226

Bri Schumacher gave up a 53 to lead Fairless to a slim victory over Northwest at The Elms.

Kylee Moore (55), Hallie Brothers (58) and Ayza Raja (59) followed for the Falcons.

Jessica Cliff led Northwest and all golfers with a 44.

The Fairless JV team also won.

Boys football

Tusky Valley 2, Fairless 2

Tusky Valley and Fairless played tied.

Mario Tiriticco and Ryan Timberlake scored for Tusky Valley, while Gavin Wickham scored two goals for Fairless.

Dawson Williams got an assist for the Trojans (1-0-1).

Brayden Overton made seven saves for Tusky Valley and Korie Espenschied made four for Fairless (1-0-1).

Just defeat Tusky Valley 9-6.

Marietta 3, Dover 1

Marietta earned a victory in the East Central Ohio League over host Dover.

Reese Utter scored the only goal for the Crimson Tornadoes.

Coshocton 6, New Lexington 2

Judah Nelson scored four goals and assisted another to pace the Redskins in an MVL road clash.

Alec Laaper and Zane Bryant also had a goal and an assist for Coshocton, who maintained a 40-7 lead in shots on goal. Isaac Dickerson made six saves.

The Black Bears hit the road and got a shutout to bring their record to 3-0 this season.

Girls football

Hiland 4, Chippewa 0

Paige Gertz had three goals and an assist and Itzelle Guzman didn’t have to make a save in goal as Hiland shut out Chippewa.

Emily Gingerich also scored for Hiland (1-1), who also got assists from Kailyn Miller, Maici Money and Kate Bodiker.

Ridgewood 3, Sandy Valley 1

In the lead for the Cardinals, Morgan VanMeter with 15 saves on the goalkeeper and Nadelie Perdew with 3 shots on goal and 1 goal scored.

Ali Winters recorded 2 shots on goal. Alexis Dotson and Audrey Dennison both added a shot on goal

Girls tennis

New Phila 4, West Holmes 1

New Philadelphia raised their record to 5-2 after a win at West Holmes.

Meagan Prouty beat Arora Chaney 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) in the No.1 singles, and Amber Albritton stopped Sydney Rolince 6-1, 6-2 in the No.2 singles.

Sophie Troyer and Sarah Jaberg stopped Laci Snyder and Cuylee Troyer 6-1, 6-0 in No.1 doubles and Shannon Russell and Ella Wherley beat Addison Christine and Brylie Rickly 6-3, 6-4 in No.2 doubles.

Madison Baker beat Alexis Mamula 6-3, 4-6, 10-4 for West Holmes’ only victory (0-6).

The New Phila JV team won 2-0.
