Support CAST at the North Fork Festival of Trees Holiday Auction
The Center for Advocacy, Support & Transformation (CAST), formerly known as Community Action Southold Town, presents the second annual North Fork Tree Festival at Treiber Farms in Peconic (38320 County Road 48) this weekend, from December 4 to 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This live and virtual hybrid auction of festive trees and local art benefits CAST’s mission to serve North Fork with neighbors helping neighbors when needed. Participants are also encouraged to bring new unwrapped toys for the annual CAST Holiday Toy Drive.
A dedicated team of volunteers will transform the working farm into a winter wonderland by using barns and other areas around the property to showcase the trees and provide seating and gathering spaces while listening to holiday music. with refreshments for sale. Local businesses, artists and community members have signed up to decorate pre-lit trees with current or topical themes.
The trees, along with artwork donated by local artists, will be auctioned to raise significant funds for CAST. All available trees have been claimed by designers, including Old Town Arts Guild Cutchogue, who will be creating a ‘farm life’ themed tree with handcrafted crafts. Another participant, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, focuses on local wineries with a ‘North Cork Christmas’ theme.
“This is an important event for CAST, especially with the heightened level of needs and COVID restrictions for nearly two years that have made galas and other benefits unthinkable for nonprofits,” explains CAST Executive Director Cathy Demeroto, adding, âThe Festival of Trees is a wonderful family community celebration that enables CAST to carry out its essential mission of serving those in need in North Fork.
Northwell Health’s Peconic Bay Medical Center (PBMC) became the presenting sponsor of the event, winning the title of Holiday Hero this year. âPeconic Bay Medical Center is honored to work every day to meet the needs of the communities of the East End, and we are proud to be the presenting sponsorâ¦â said PBMC Executive Director Dr. Amy E. Loeb. âThe Festival of Trees celebrates the creative abilities of local artists and brings joy and mirth to all participants. This year’s committee chair, Eileen McMahon, describes her work on last year’s successful inaugural event: ââ¦ a magnificent event. McMahon says she is optimistic they can outdo last year’s event, adding, “We are thrilled to build on the momentum and enthusiasm of the community and hope to raise $ 100,000 to benefit. of the critical mission of CAST.
Ticket prices are $ 10 for adults and $ 5 for seniors and children 6 and over. Admission is free for children 5 and under.
