School bus at the back in Cutchogue; No students on board: the police

CUTCHOGUE, NY – A school bus was involved in an accident in Cutchogue on Tuesday, police said.

According to Southold Town Police, the incident happened at 10:41 a.m. on Route 25. A Sunrise Bus Company school bus was traveling eastbound and slowed due to traffic congestion; the bus was rammed by a 2020 Jeep Compass driven by a 19-year-old, police said.

No students were on the bus at the time, police said.

Both drivers were assessed for injuries; the Jeep driver was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for further medical evaluation, police said.
