Pilot sustains minor injuries when small plane flips over while landing at Riverhead: cops
The pilot of a small plane sustained minor injuries when the plane overturned as the pilot attempted to land on a private airstrip on Sound Avenue in Riverhead this morning, Riverhead Town police said in a press release.
The pilot was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps for treatment, police said.
Police said they received a call at around 10:47 a.m. reporting a possible small plane crash in the 2995 Sound Avenue area near Horton Avenue. The agents in charge of the response discovered that a small private plane had been overturned, according to the press release. The pilot was making a planned landing on the private airstrip, police said. The FAA and NTSB have been notified, police said.
