Old Saybrook Boys’ Soccer Enjoys Four-Win Week; Cross Country Races at Wickham Invites

The Old Saybrook boys’ soccer team had a busy schedule with four games on the schedule and wins scored in all four games to improve their record to 12-0-1 this season.
Old Saybrook started their week with a 3-0 victory at the Norwich Free Academy on October 11. Two days later, the Rams were on the road to face North Branford and won the game by a score of 7-0. Then on October 15, Old Saybrook hosted Coginchaug and clinched a 6-1 victory over the Blue Devils. The next day, the Rams played a home game against East Lyme and triumphed in a 2-0 final.
The Old Saybrook field hockey team suffered two losses last week and are now 9-3-1 this year.
The Rams lost 3-0 on the road to North Branford in their opener of the week on October 11. Three days later, Old Saybrook hosted Valley Regional and lost to the Warriors in a 1-0 final.
The Old Saybrook-Westbrook (OS-W) football team hosted Gilbert-Northwestern-Housy (GNH) for a clash on Saturday morning, October 16. The Rams suffered a 42-0 loss to GNH to go 0-4 this season. .
The next game for OS-W is a road tilt against Cromwell-Portland on Friday, October 22. The competition will start at 6 p.m. at Pierson Park in Cromwell.
Cross-country skiing for girls
The Old Saybrook girls’ cross country team finished in fourth place when they participated in the Wickham Invitational on October 9. Manchester.
Junior Catherine Minegar delivered Old Saybrook’s best performance for the 5K race finishing in 13th place with a time of 22:02. Sophomore Carlina Castro finished in 16th place with a time of 22:31, and junior Vikki Carrica ran in a time of 23:05 to take 33rd place for the Rams.
Freshman Cat Pammond finished in 63rd place (24:14), while senior Caitlin Wiley took 66th place (24:30) on behalf of Old Saybrook at the Wickham Invite. Freshman Ceyden Ratineri finished in 127th place with a time of 29:51.
Cross-country skiing for boys
The Old Saybrook boys’ cross country team sent several runners to compete in the Wickham Invitational at Wickham State Park in Manchester on October 9. The Rams scored 207 points as a team to finish ninth out of 16 teams in the small schools race.
Sophomore Parker Cook had Old Saybrook’s best performance taking 13th place with a time of 17:54 for the 5K race. His sophomore classmate Nwang Choegyal came in 36th when crossing the finish line at 7:00 p.m.
Junior Logan Worman finished in 63rd place (20:05) for the Rams, while freshman Everett Miller finished in 72nd place (20:15). Senior Zachary Nichols finished in 76th place (20:20), junior Tyler Milardo-Denle in 95th place (20:45) and junior Andrew Julius finished in 122nd place (22:15) for Old Saybrook .
