CAST ‘North Fork Festival of Trees’ to help those in need over the holidays
PECONIC, NY — An event is brewing this weekend that will capture the spirit of the holiday season with the goal of making it magical for those struggling through tough times.
The Center for Advocacy, Support & Transformation, or CAST, a North Fork organization that aims to provide safety net and self-sufficiency programs, will host the 3rd Annual North Fork Tree Festival on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20 November at Treiber Farms, located at 38320 County Road 48 in Peconic.
The event, which is both live and virtual, will feature “spectacular, uniquely themed trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses, artists and friends of CAST,” organizers said.
In addition to the barn in the trees, the event will include a conservatory with wreaths and silent auction items, a Merry Marketplace with handmade holiday items for sale, and a Cookie Cottage with produce. of bakery. Father Christmas will be on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Trees, wreaths and other holiday items will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for the benefit of CAST.
“Those who come can stroll through our magical gardens of trees and wreaths while listening to holiday music and refreshments for sale. We will have a Designer’s Choice and People’s Choice Awards,” organizers said.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children 5 and older; children under 5 are free. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased in advance for each festival day here.
At the event, unboxed toys will be collected for the annual CAST Holiday Toy Drive, benefiting families in need in the North Fork and Shelter Island.
The Festival of Trees will help CAST raise funds for essential food relief and emergency aid programs – as many families struggle to make ends meet during a 40-year period of high inflation, said CAST.
CAST is experiencing a significant increase in demand for food and emergency needs that impact health and safety, including rent, electricity, gas/oil and medical costs, organizers said, adding that CAST serves more than 900 families in North Fork and Shelter Island. and expects to provide over 340,000 meals in 2022.
“Festival of Trees attendees will experience the vibrant community spirit that makes North Fork so special, while helping our neighbors in need who have faced tremendous challenges this year,” said CAST Executive Director Cathy Demeroto. .
Peconic Bay Medical Center–Northwell Health is the presenting sponsor and many local businesses and community members are participating in support of CAST, she said.
