Brush golf gears up for regionals – The Fort Morgan Times

Tuesday is the day Brush Boys Golf will have its chance to qualify for the Class 3A State Tournament.

The long season will come to a close, and for some to come to an end, when the Beetdiggers converge on Highland Hills Golf Course in Westminster on Tuesday morning for the 3A Region 3 tournament. The top two teams and 13 people not affiliated with those teams will earn their place in the tournament. State, which for 3A will be played at Pinehurst Country Club in Denver from October 3-4.

The region will feature seven Patriot League and nine Northeastern League teams as well as Resurrection Christian, Faith Christian, Jefferson Academy, Burgdorf, Severance, Wellington and Holy Family.

It won’t be easy for the ‘Diggers, who are ranked 30th in the standings by average score, as they will battle No. 8 Resurrection Christian, No. 9 Holy Family and No. 9. 10 Eaton, for n to name a few.

The ‘Diggers had decent success, however, in their last tournament at the Quail Dunes Golf Course in Fort Morgan last week, when they placed fourth among nine teams with 276 cumulative strokes.

In this competition, Erie, Fort Morgan and Sterling dominated much of the top 15 individual scores, but rookie Keeton Jilek managed to fight his way into the top 20 when he was tied for 19th with a score. of 90. He narrowly beat his eldest. teammate, Myer Wickham, who scored a 92 en route to 21st place.

Junior Kaden Conner and senior Parker Stone weren’t too far behind, finishing 22nd and 25th respectively with 94 and 95 shots. Freshman Ben Mettlen rounded out Brush’s overall performance at 32nd with a score of 103.

Tee times for Tuesday’s regional competition will begin at 9 a.m.
