Arctic Monkeys announce their seventh studio album, “The Car”

World-renowned rock band Arctic Monkeys have announced the release of their first album in four years, The car, released on October 21. The Sheffield band will release the 10-track disc on Friday October 21 via Domino. You can pre-order/pre-register it here.

Just over a year ago we discovered the band were writing and recording new music in Suffolk. Alex Turner wrote and recorded, and James Ford produced the next album. The British rock band recorded the album at Butley Priory in Suffolk, La Frette in Paris and RAK Studios in London.

With each new single and album release, Arctic Monkeys have shown talent, innovation, fierce experimentation and confidence. They became what they are today thanks to their extraordinary creativity, their scintillating lyricism and their psychedelic rhythms.

The car follows Arctic Monkeys’ 2018 album, Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino. In May, Matt Helders said “The Car” “picks up where [their previous album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’] musically interrupted. A press release described the album as Arctic Monkeys “unleashes a new and lavish musical landscape”, adding that it “contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner’s career”.

The album will feature 10 tracks, including the new song “I Ain’t Quite Where I Think I Am”, which Arctic Monkeys debuted live during their performance at the Zurich OpenAir festival in Switzerland on August 23. Other song titles include “There’d Better Be a Disco Ball”, “Sculptures of Everything That Happens”, “Jet Skis on the Moat”, “Body Paint”, and “Mr. Schwartz”,
