ABL Group will act as marine warranty expert for the UAE project

Energy and marine consultancy firm ABL Group has been appointed marine warranty expert to review and approve critical marine and offshore operations on the Belbazem project, offshore UAE.

The Belbazem project comprises three oilfields and each will have installed an offshore wellhead tower which will be connected by 60 kilometers of pipeline and undersea cables to the terminal on the island of Zirku in the Persian Gulf. ADNOC’s Al Yasat Petroleum Operations Company is the operator of the field development. It is a joint venture between ADNOC and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).

Under this project, ABL Group will provide Marine Warranty Survey (MWS) services, including the review and approval of critical marine and offshore operations, including loading, transportation and installation of facilities, which are being manufactured in Abu Dhabi. ABL did not disclose the value of the contract.

“The development of the Belbazem Block is a prestigious project and we consider it a privilege to be appointed Marine Warranty Inspectors”, said Paul Milesresponsible for the energy services of the ABL group in the Middle East region.

ABL Group will maximize value in the country of the UAE by using its offices in Abu Dhabi and Dubai to undertake all MWS services, using locally based staff.

Located 120 kilometers northwest of Abu Dhabi city, the Belbazem block comprises the Belbazem, Umm Al Salsal and Umm Al Dholou oilfields. In May 2021, ADNOC awarded a $744 million contract to NPCC for the full field development of the Belbazem block.

The scope also covers the development of new facilities for water injection, produced water treatment, gas compression and associated public services, as well as brownfield works for connection to existing facilities on the island of Zirku.

Over the past two months, ABL has been awarded a contract to provide decommissioning assistance on Spirit Energy’s three oil and gas platforms located offshore the UK, as well as a contract to provide decommissioning survey services Marine Guarantee (MWS) on the Greenlink Interconnector – a 500 MW interconnector linking the supply networks in Ireland and Great Britain.
