2 charged with DWI after Fiery LI crash; 1 Had A Minor In The Car: The Police
EAST QUOGUE, NY — Two people were arrested and charged with impaired driving after a violent crash in East Quogue on Friday night — and one had an underage passenger in the car, police said.
According to Southampton City Police, the crash happened at 11.38pm on country road 104 and Jeffrey Lane. Police said they found two people trapped in a vehicle and another burning but unoccupied vehicle.
New York State Police, Quogue Village Police and Westhampton Beach Police responded to the scene and an NYSP K-9 unit followed the individual from the burning car a short distance away, it said. the police.
Moscoso Almazan, 44, of East Quogue was driving the burning car; he was arrested, charged with DWI and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said. He was later released from Peconic Bay Medical Center and transported to Southampton City Police Headquarters for treatment, police said.
The operator of the second vehicle, John Salazar, 18, from Westhampton, and his child passenger
were removed from their vehicle and it was determined that Salazar was also intoxicated, police said.
He was arrested and taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment, police said. The juvenile
the passenger was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center, treated for his injuries and released to his
parents, police said.
Salazar has been charged with DUI/Leandra’s Law, a felony and endangerment
the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, police said. He was taken to Southampton City Police Headquarters for treatment and held for arraignment, police said.
