1 person shot dead after fight involving Wyandanch high school students, parents – CBS New York
WYANDANCH, NY (CBSNewYork) – A person was shot dead outside a high school on Long Island on Friday after a huge brawl between students and parents, police said.
Several shots rang out just after 2 p.m. near Wyandanch High School, CBS2’s Carolyn Gusoff reported.

Police say the fight broke out between teenagers before adult family members intervened and one person was shot dead.
A witness told Gusoff that she heard the melee outside her house and saw people swinging bats.
Police did not immediately say what sparked the brawl, but said a bullet hit a 40-year-old man in the cheek. We expect it to be OK. No one else was injured.

The witness said he heard seven gunshots.
“It was a bunch of kids and they’re all fighting and I see parents pull over and then gunshots go off,” Sabrina Clayton said. “I saw a group, like half of high school … It was several fights.”
Suffolk Police have been on site for hours as the school is closed.

Officers were searching with K-9 units for the person who opened fire, but so far no one has been apprehended.
